U232 - A USB to COM Port Converter cable to connect a GPS to a PC or Laptop USB port in conjunction with a GPS serial cable. This cable is designed to enable data transfer between the GPS and PC for common Map/Nav applications. Enables downloads for maps using the serial (RS232C) system and includes the common functions for transfer of waypoints, routes and tracks. The GPS to PC serial data cable can be purchased from us if required.

This cable is 6 inches (15 cms) long and contains a DB9M (serial male) plug in an extended housing on one end and standard USB A plug at the other. The cable is supplied with a software driver on mini CD that will mount a COM port on the USB system and enables the GPS device to communicate with the PC map application. This cable is not suitable for Garmin C type GPS that have a USB mini B socket fitted. Other serial devices may use this cable, but will depend on the capability of application software to recognise COM ports that may exist above COM 4 and 10. Data transfer is at standard serial speed, not at USB high speed.

The mini CD provides drivers for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista and Windows 7. Includes all 32 and 64 bit variants. Also provided are drivers for Linux and Apple Mac. The files on the mini CD include general setup and specific GPS setup information. If you are unable to use a mini CD the drivers and files can be downloaded from our website. This cable system has flash gold plated pins on each plug to enhance connectivity.
